How To: Play on a Factions Server!

In these next couple of posts, we'll be going over how to play on a Factions server.

What is it?

A Factions server is basically many, many teams or clans banded together. Each has their own members, rules, bases, and territory. In Factions servers there are three kinds of places.

1. Faction territories: places where Factions have claimed the land their turf. Typically if you're not in their Faction and are spotted, you will be attacked.

2. War Zones: Where Factions some Factions come to battle. The awesome thing about Factions is that each Faction is like a nation, so they declare war a lot and have allies that help them. In a War Zone, you are open to be killed mercilessly.

3. Wilderness: Where you can build a home for yourself of a base for your Faction. This is an open PVP area where you can be killed.

How to Survive:

You can work your way up the Factions and get well known. For instance, if you are just starting, it's no good to make your own Faction. Join one. From reading these posts you should have a pretty good knowledge of Minecraft, so state that you have skills and know how to play on a Faction server. State what servers you have played on before and they may let you in.

Once you join that Faction, stay a while. If it's a good Faction, you might want to stay forever. If it's a small one, that's fine too. Once you work your way up on the server, you can join better Factions and then get followers if you want to make a Faction of your own.

Typically you don't build homes in this server. You like in your Faction's base. Usually Factions have homes for its members or at least places to keep their stuff locked safely. If not, you know what to do from older posts.

We've Gone to War!

Congratulations! Going to war with another Faction is a good thing for the victors. It earns them more fame and thus more members. So you've gone to war, and now you're in the War Zone. Oops. Better have good gear. Carry only weapons like a good sword, an bow, and about ten arrows. I believe you cannot build in a War Zone, so find a tree to climb or a safe place if you fight with a bow. If you fight with a sword, you can easily hide and surprise enemies.

It's not uncommon for your enemies to launch an attack on your base. This is okay, because they cannot destroy your territory, and there cannot be any traitors unless they break open the entrance. But the traitors cannot kill you. If this is the case, and the enemy is on your door, this is an easy fight unless your base is nothing but a log cabin with a door.

Typically a base has points for archers, and if so, use them. Snipe your enemies and laugh. Then collect your loot when it's safe.

My Faction is Failing.

This is an article for what to do if the Faction you created is failing. That's okay. There are two things you can do. You can keep it, try hard to get other members. Or you can abandon it. Option one has a bigger advantage, of course. Your Faction may seem low to other people, but it may be good for people just starting, so cater to them. The only con is that if your Faction just fails and you're the only one in it, you'll have to abandon it, making you lower in status and making it hard to join a good Faction.

Option two may not be the most preferable, but you won't have much of a lower in status, making it easier to join a better Faction.

Next time, we'll have more tips! Bye guys!
