Continuing Faction Servers!

I'm doing this post from my iPad, so it's a little different. I can't do any daily music, sorry!

I realize I've been talking about Faction servers in Minecraft for a while, but there's just so much to talk about. Well, even though we've been talking about it for a while, you don't know everything about a faction server, unless you did research on your own. Faction servers are actually normal Minecraft servers running a mod named the Faction Mod. This mod is created to make teams (factions) that can declare alliances and etc.. Therefor, to understand this kind of server better, we must understand how the normal Minecraft server works.

A normal Minecraft server runs no mods, even though mods on servers are extremely helpful. Usually this is just multiplayer survival mode. Which sounds fun. Every server (even non-video game servers) are held in a massive computer which saves data from the machines that use them.

We've covered the art of warfare and how war in factions work, but we haven't really covered what it's like doing actual Faction wars. You can hurt enemies in their territory, which is great, but you cannot teleport away in enemy territory. If you are in neutral territory and people from enemy factions are within 320 blocks away from you, you cannot teleport.

Now that we have covered the restrictions, it's time to tell how faction warfare really is inside the raids, battles, and defense.

Raids are when a faction goes to another faction's/person's home and loots, kills, and completely destroy whatever is in sight. Kind of like those army ants in the Amazon. Everything in sight is gone and wiped out. A raid can take a while. There are several steps to a raid and you need to be acquainted with them all.

Step one: Entry. Usually a Faction's base is heavily fortified with secret entrances, various traps (we'll talk about how to make some later on), and sometimes guards. Even if the entrance is an obvious wooden door you still cannot enter if the territory is claimed. So what do you do? Well there are several things you can do. The best is to make a TNT cannon just outside their fortress. Now it is a bit embarrassing to admit this, but I don't know how to make a TNT cannon, but you can look it up on the web. Another way is a block glitch. Typically two people go underground and get as close as they can to the surface of their base. Then one person teleports away and asks to teleport back by means of the second person. If all goes well the first person will be on top of that person, thus in the base, unless you aren't close enough to the surface. This only, of course, works with bases on the surface.
Underground bases are a little more difficult since you can't glitch your way in, and you need tons of space for a TNT cannon. The best way is to put TNT as close to their border and blow it up. If all goes well, you will have made damage to their base, scaring some people and (sometimes) stirring them up and getting them to come outside.

Step two: Attacking: After entering their base, there's most likely someone in it. If so, read this section, if not read it for next time. A raid needs a large group. It's not an option. It's a must. Everyone armed with iron or above armor and swords. Strength potions are nice. Have one person for potions. Splash strength for your teammates and splash poison for your enemies. After killing everyone once and looting their belongings, they will most likely attack again. Maybe with or without armor and weapons. Just keep killing them until they run out of stuff. Once they do they will submit and understand that they lost this battle.

Step three: Looting: This really doesn't need to be talked about, but it is important to read this section anyways. You cannot place, destroy, or open things in other faction's territory, so you might want to claim just the little bit of land around the chest. So that your faction can open it. Of there isn't a faction mod or higher there, you can't claim that land, so you can't loot them.

Step four: Destroying: You can only do this if it's your land or neutral land. Once you are finished with the raid and everyone from the defending faction has submitted or has run away, destroy their base. Flood it, burn it to the ground, or just destroy it, it doesn't matter. Just destroy it to where they can't build it back. It may seem mean, but now that you have done everything else to them, they aren't going to show you mercy. So just slow them down by destroying their home.

That's a raid. The whole thing is basically a mean and merciless attack.

Battles are rare occurrences in Faction servers. All battles are are just giant team PVP fights. It's recommended that you have a person for all types of potions. Strength, poison, and health, and make sure they're all splash.

Defense kind of speaks for itself. I'll go ahead and explain it anyways. This time, the raid is on you. So, haha. How's that for irony? Anyways, use any defense mechanisms you have. If you don't have any, build some right away. TNT cannons are awesome in the middle of a high wall. Even though they may not be accurate, they do some killer AOE (area of effect) damage. They will also typically discourage your attackers. If they hear that thing explode from out of no-where, they'll jump at their computer screens. I'm guilty as charged on that one. Another great defense is a big, obvious entrance that leads to no-where. Have some pressure plates inside and some pistons behind the wall. It will push the wall towards the attackers, and something is going to have to give, and it won't be the wall. Another is a moat of lava around your base. Check your server rules to see if lava and fire is allowed in your server.

See you later guys! As usual leave comments below!
