Mob Field Guide
A Guide To The Wonderful Creatures Of Minecraftia
Mobs are basically any living thing in Minecraftia. Pigs, cows, sheep... creepers. Those are all mobs. When someone talks about mobs, they usually are talking about enemies, with exceptions, of course. These mobs are curious creatures, and with this guide you shall learn all about them.
Enderman
The enderman and the ghast are competing for Minecraft's creepiest mobs. Right now, though, we can call Mr. Enderman the creepiest mob in the Overworld. Enderman get their prey by actually doing nothing. Curious Minecrafters look at them, causing the enderman to get angry and attack. Enderman are naturally curious. They pick up blocks and take them back to their homeland, The End, to show other enderman. The ones that come to the Overworld usually travel alone or in groups of two, though larger groups have been seen. You can see enderman's eyes glow in dark caves, making them easily spotted. An enderman is only afraid of two things: wood and people wearing pumpkins. If you wear a pumpkin on your head, the terrified enderman will ignore you. No one is sure why enderman are afraid of these things, but they tend not to mess with them.
If you are to come in combat with one of these mystical mobs, do not panic. Though they teleport, just quickly scan the area. A few hits with your sword and the enderman is dead, sometimes dropping a mysterious ender pearl.

Creeper
The creeper is a hated animal. When mining, the creeper blows up the Minecrafter, making them generally upset. Creepers are generally mad creatures, but, once upon a time, they were happy. Yes, indeed, the frowns on their faces once were smiles until Notch, the explorer of Minecraftia, came and called them something you should never call a creeper. The creeper then got so mad he blew up. They hate Minecrafters because of that. On his journey, Notch described the creeper to feel "crunchy, like dry leaves." These creatures, unlike other mobs, quite like the sun and explore, making them active at both daytime and nighttime, though they tend to hide until night. If they spot a player, they tend to stalk him, creeping him out. That's why Notch called him creeper.
If you should find yourself being stalked by these beings, you should run at them, hit them, and quickly run back. Repeat the process until you find your stalker dead.
Home protection is also important. To prevent your home from being blown up, build a moat of water around your home, thus preventing the creeper from damaging it.

Zombies
The zombie is quite a curious creature. It moans and wanders aimlessly. When Notch first explored Minecraftia, he questioned why they wandered so. The zombie, of course, could only moan and groan, so Notch could not understand it. There is no way to tell the gender of a zombie. These creatures were actually never human, they were just born zombies. Zombie society is a savage but peaceful one. Zombies outcast every single zombie in existence, even themselves, resulting in self-loathing and hatred of everyone. This explains why they attack Minecrafters, since they look somewhat like them. They have incredibly pale skin, so they actually catch on fire during the day. When Notch asked the only zombie-scholar in existence why they attack Minecrafters, he replied that zombies have poor eyesight, and are colorblind except to the color green. Then the zombie proceeded to try to eat Notch.
If you should find yourself in a bit of trouble with these creatures, simply attack them over and over until they die... again. It should come back tomorrow night.
Spiders
When Notch discovered Minecraftia, he (to much of his horror) found giant spiders living there. Though he found they were friendly during the day, he discovered quickly that they change personalities at night, changing them from friendly to hostile. These creatures come in two different forms: cave and normal spiders. The normal spiders are not poisonous and are not even that dangerous, but the rare and blue cave spiders are, indeed, poisonous. Some skeletons enjoy riding these spiders, and it is even considered a sport (see Skeletons). These creatures come out of their caves at night and explore. Notch attempted to ride one of these spiders, but was bucked off and shot at by skeletons, an insult in their race (see Skeletons).
If you should find yourself pitted against one of these arachnids, simply wait for it to jump at you, and swat it with your sword. Repeat this process until it is dead.
Slimes
Slimes come in many different sizes. From smaller than a block, to larger than a block. Slimes are quite rare creatures, and quite picky, too. They only choose the finest caves in the finest spots. They feel like Jell-o and are shaped strictly as cubes. Notch, believe it or not, did not discover these creatures. A frightened miner did. He described the slimes as, "so peaceful and loving creatures... until you touch one." These creatures live in the damp spots of caves and enjoy reading books from fallen miners and collect cave flora. Despite the lack of arms, these creatures love to read and the pursuit knowledge. They are famous for publishing the anatomy of a creeper and are currently pondering the question of "if a creeper blows up in the forest, yet no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" Sadly, just when they are about to answer the question, a miner kills them.
If you happen to anger these creatures, simply handle them as you would a spider: when they jump, swat them with your sword.
Skeletons
Skeletons are quite a humorous race if you speak their language. They are the ancient race of Minecraftia, and do not take kindly to the new Minecrafters. A common insult is to shoot arrows at each other. They often shoot arrows at Minecrafters as a friendly insult, but they are not aware that they hurt us, resulting in the Minecrafter temporarily killing the skeleton. When Notch discovered this race, they were going to burn him alive until Notch gave them his bow and arrows, thus starting their love of archery. Minecrafters and skeletons lived in peace after that until one day a Minecrafter and a skeleton went to mine where upon the Minecrafter tripped down a large cliff and died. When the Minecrafter came to retrieve his belongings, the skeleton shot him as they do in their race as a friendly insult such as "klutz." The Minecrafter then pushed the skeleton into lava. When the other skeletons found out about this, war was called and is still raging to this day.
It is difficult not receiving damage from these skilled archers, but if you spin around him and hit him, you can hit him without having taken much damage.
Zombie Pigmen
These creatures are quite gruesome in appearance. Despite their horrifying appearance, they are actually quite friendly towards all the Minecrafters. When Notch found them, he discovered that when pigs are struck by lightning they turn into these creatures. When he found the Nether, he found that the Pigmen are like villagers there and travel in packs. Where they obtain their swords is unknown. They are quite friendly to each other and often discuss the weather of the Nether in their grunt-like language, though the weather never changes. It's always raining lava. They are quite satisfied with their ignorance. They accept that they will live in the Nether, a place where knowledge is not that necessary.
If you should attack one, you now have all the Pigmen in the district of the Nether angry at you. Say a prayer and then fight them all. Of course, soulsand slows them down quite a bit, so there's always that option.
Blazes
Blazes, like creepers, hate Minecrafters. The conflict does way back, but it started when Notch tried to spin one to open a Nether fortress door. These creatures also hate anyone or anything that enters the Nether without their permission, thus earning the nickname "Nether Guardians" which they quite like. You can enter the Nether with their permission, though no one can understand what the are saying, so they get mad anyways. They live in Nether Fortresses, which is strange considering Minecrafters tend to spawn away from them.
If you should stumble upon them, you can always fight honorably, but they fight dirty and catch you on fire. The best way is to drink a fire resistance potion and then fight them.
Ghasts
There is a debate in Minecraftia of whether the ghast or the enderman are the scariest mob in Minecraftia, but it is sure that the ghast is the scariest mob in the Nether. The ghast, believe it or not, is actually quite sensitive in both skin and emotion. When Notch first found them, he asked him why they left the ocean. They told him that he was "real funny"and started crying, which they do every day now, and left, leaving a very confused Notch standing there alone in the Nether, since they shot a fireball at his portal and lit it out (luckily Notch had a flint and steel). When questioned about his encounter, Notch said, "I seriously thought they were a very weird looking octopus, not a spirit." Now the ghasts, like many other Minecraftia races, are mad at us Minecrafters. When hit, they let loose a gut wrenching scream. When questioned about it they said (through many tears) that they have a skin condition and that, "we should mind our own freakin' business" and floated away.
The ghast are very easy to kill, just simply hit their fireballs right back at them.
Magma Cubes
Magma cubes, although being a close relative of the slime, hate learning things. When asked upon why, they replied that no amount of knowledge could help someone from being squished by the magma cubes, and then it squished the curious Minecrafter. The magma cube's reply, however, is quite ironic since some knowledge could have saved the poor Minecrafter. This race has temper problems, and are provoked when asked the simplest of questions, or even if you get near it. The magma cube is believed to have a heart of flames, but when asked about it, they reply that they have "hearts of steel." Scientist have indeed said that it is not steel but flames. When told this the magma cubes just squished the scientists.
If you have provoked a magma cube, you can fight them easily by hitting them when they jump.
